TypeScript, Angular, Progressive Web Apps: Where is the JavaScript ecosystem headed?

Gone are the days when JavaScript was an unloved programming language — nowadays, everyone is embracing it. But what does this mean for a programming language which will celebrate its 22nd birthday next month? Will its popularity change the JavaScript game in any way?

Sebastian Meyen, Chief Content Officer at Software & Support Media Group led a panel alongside Chris Noring from McKinsey, Manfred Steyer of SOFTWAREarchitekt, IBM’s Lorna Mitchell and Shmuela Jacobs of ngGirls. The discussion revolved around the game-changers in the JavaScript ecosystem, namely TypeScript and Node.js, as well as serverless JavaScript, to name a few.

A central aspect of the discussion revolved around TypeScript: What role does TypeScript play for the future of ECMAScript – should it replace TypeScript ECMAScript?
