MicroServices are widely adopted but for modern Web UIs, mostly monoliths are built. Couldn’t we also leverage the advantages of MicroServices in the frontend? The term MicroFrontend describes this approach and the Web Components standard is a possible technology to implement this idea. In the lecture, a web component based on standard APIs will be created as an example and it will be demonstrated what is already possible with most current browsers. The popular Angular Framework with Angular Elements also offers a possibility for the implementation of Web Components.
In a demo, these two worlds are brought together and we look at alternatives offered by other frameworks such as React or Polymer. In addition, we report from more than one year of practical experience with the implementation of MicroFrontends.
